Biografía

Matías Montecinos is a psychologist, MSc in Clinical Psychology, and early-career neuroscience researcher whose work focuses on understanding how social determinants, early-life experiences, and biobehavioral processes shape brain health across the lifespan. His research integrates multivariate approaches, including neuropsychological analysis, structural equation modeling (SEM), exposome frameworks, biomarker analysis such as hair cortisol extraction and quantification, brain-age estimation and sleep indicators, generating evidence on the mechanisms linking adversity, dementia risk and aging.

At BrainLat, Montecinos contributes to high-impact regional projects and multinational studies aimed at characterizing brain-health trajectories in demographically diverse and socially vulnerable populations. He has played a key role in building evidence matrices, developing and executing complex analytical models, structuring manuscripts, creating multidomain indices, and integrating social, clinical, biological, and behavioral variables. His work has strengthened emerging research lines in aging, dementia prevention, and social neuroscience applied to public health in Latin America.

Montecinos currently works alongside other BrainLat researchers such as Dr. Joaquín Migeot, Dr. Agustín Ibáñez, Dr. Carolina Panesso, Dr. Hernán Hernández, among others, advancing research programs oriented toward generating translational knowledge to improve global brain health.
