Ahmed Shaheen is an accomplished graduate of Alexandria Faculty of Medicine, Egypt, obtaining his MBBCh degree in 2024. His extensive experience in neuropsychiatry and neuroscience research has led to the publication of over 40 peer-reviewed articles throughout his medical education. Ahmed enjoys teaching, serving as an instructor for postgraduate courses in biostatistics, statistical learning, and machine learning, where he equips students with critical analytical skills applicable to brain health research.
Motivated by a desire to improve dementia care and understanding in Latin America, Ahmed’s research bridges computational neuroscience with clinical neurology and psychiatry. He is committed to uncovering disease mechanisms and exploring innovative therapeutic avenues that address the specific needs of underrepresented populations.
Ahmed’s leadership in the Long COVID collaborative and his initiatives in the Middle East align with the mission of the Latin American Brain Health Institute (BrainLat), emphasizing multidisciplinary collaboration to improve brain health outcomes across the region.
As a peer reviewer for several respected scientific journals and a Guest Editor for PLOS ONE, Ahmed actively contributes to the academic community. His participation in leadership and educational initiatives reflects his dedication to fostering future generations of researchers committed to addressing brain health challenges globally.
Ahmed is fluent in Arabic and English, enabling him to communicate effectively in diverse environments. Outside of his academic pursuits, he enjoys farming, planting, and exploring nature, appreciating the calming influence of the environment on mental well-being.
