I’m Sofia Binetti, a Psychology graduate and master’s student in Social and Cognitive Neuroscience at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, passionate about understanding why brain aging looks so different across Latin American women.
My research focuses on how reproductive stages, hormonal changes, and cardiometabolic health shape dementia risk in Latin American women. My work has looked at this through menopause and cognition, hormonal biomarkers, and allostatic load as a marker of cumulative stress across the life course. I also study how these factors interact with environmental exposures, particularly air pollution, and using cohort data from the region.
At BrainLat, I lead LAC-READY, a multicenter initiative aimed at strengthening Latin America’s readiness for dementia clinical trials, and collaborate with international networks such as the Wellcome Leap project and ReDLat to advance dementia prevention and brain health research across the region.
I currently work under the supervision of our researcher and PhD, Claudia Durán-Aniotz.
