Cristobal Castillo is a psychologist (B.S.) and neuroscientist currently completing his master’s (M.Sc. candidate) in Social and Cognitive Neuroscience. His primary research focuses on how the exposome impacts brain and cardiometabolic health within underrepresented and demographically diverse populations.
By integrating multilevel approaches, such as exposome frameworks and machine-learning-based analyses, he generates critical evidence on the impact of the exposome in Latin American populations while exploring its key mediators and moderators—such as cardiometabolic health, electrophysiological measures, sex, and early-life experiences—and their link to dementia risk. His work is supported by a strong foundation in computational analysis, utilizing analytical scripting (including Python, R, and MATLAB) and neurophysiological data collection.
As a Research Assistant at BrainLat, Cristobal contributes to high-impact, multinational collaborative studies, mostly nested within the Multi-Partner Consortium to Expand Dementia Research in Latin America (ReDLat), aimed at advancing dementia prevention and improving the characterization of brain health across Latin America. He is currently working under the supervision of Dr. Joaquín Migeot, in collaboration with global international researchers.
