A neurogenomics approach for Alzheimer’s Disease and Frontotemporal Dementia

The project will develop a new multimodal screening tool to predict effects of genetic variants on brain structure and function in neurodegenerative subtypes. Brain regions are known to be heterogeneous and characterized by differential pathophysiological responses, where minor perturbations in gene expression may have a disproportionate effect. Despite the advances of genomic neuroimaging, a new understanding of genetic-brain structure interaction remains to be explored. Overall, the outcomes of this proposal will provide a multimodal analysis combining both omics and neuroimaging data which promises to be relevant in the identification of susceptibility factors for diagnosis purposes, especially in the underrepresented Chilean population.
