Iván is a fourth-year Molecular Biotechnology student at the University of Chile specializing in the intersection of neuroscience and engineering. Throughout his undergraduate career, he has served multiple times as a teaching assistant and research intern at the Cellular Physiology Laboratory and the Neurobiology and Biology of Knowledge Laboratory («El Rayo») at the Faculty of Science. Notably, he gained international experience as an exchange student at the University of California, Berkeley. Currently, his work at BrainLat focuses on leveraging his molecular background to study the neurobiological correlates of neurological conditions, specifically chronic pain, under the guidance of Dra. Carolina González and Dr. Hernán Hernández.
